From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline including angels, fiends, and dark forces growing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, striking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could help the team enter areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Questers and Planners groups.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which players will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
